Brands of Tortillas

Tortillas are round and slender flatbreads common in Latin and South American cuisine. The term tortilla is Spanish for "little cake." Tortillas originated in Mexico, and are used in numerous foods, such as burritos, tacos, tortilla chips, enchiladas, quesadillas, tostadas and flautas. Mission Foods

Mission Foods Corp. in Irving, Texas, has been making tortillas and other products since 1977. The company manufactures flour and corn tortillas, as well taco shells, wraps, tortilla chips, tostadas, chicharrones, toppings, dips and salsas. Several health-oriented varieties of tortillas are available, including multi-grain, carb balance and "heart healthy" tortillas, which are 96 percent fat-free.

La Tortilla Factory

La Tortilla Factory is a health-conscious brand geared towards followers of the low carbohydrate Atkins Diet, with tortillas that are both low in fat and carbs. La Tortilla Factory was founded in 1977 in California's Sonoma County. The company's products include 100 calorie tortillas and natural and organic tortillas. Wraps and Mediterranean flatbreads also are available.

Albuquerque Tortilla

Albuquerque Tortilla is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque Tortilla makes tortillas and an extensive line of Mexican and Latin American food products including salsas, spices and prepared foods, such as green chile stew and spicy bean taquitos. The company sells whole wheat tortillas, burrito style tortillas and white, blue and yellow corn tortillas.
