Making changes to your diet can be difficult, so when you're trying to add healthful, whole grains into your diet, you want making them to be simple. Brown rice is a better source of vitamins, minerals and fiber than white rice, but it can also be a hassle to make because of its longer cooking time. Try making brown rice in a slow cooker so you don't have to be tied to the stove for up to an hour. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
- 1
Measure two cups of brown rice and five cups of water into the bowl of your slow cooker. To make more, just keep the ratio the same (that is, 2 1/2 cups of water for each cup of rice).
2Add salt to taste. Try 1 tsp. per cup of rice the first time you make brown rice, and adjust the amount in the future, if necessary.
3Stir the ingredients together and put the cover on the slow cooker.
4Turn on the slow cooker and set the timer for three hours.
