Cabbage Soup Diet Guidelines

The cabbage soup diet may be just what you're looking for if you need to lose approximately 7 to 10 lb. quickly. Although this diet is not recommended for long-term weight loss, following a few guidelines will help you jump-start your body before moving into a long-term diet regimen.

Day One

    Foods on day one of your diet include any and all fruit (except bananas). Eat as much as you want and stay away from sweet drinks. Acceptable drinks include cranberry juice and water.

Day Two

    Eat a lot of raw or cooked fresh vegetables, especially leafy green vegetables. Try to stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat this along with the cabbage soup. A baked potato is acceptable with dinner, but fruit is not OK on day two.

Day Three

    Day three is a combination of days one and two, except for the baked potato. Be sure that you are continuing to drink plenty of water and avoiding sweet drinks.

Day Four

    On day four, eat up to eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you desire. These foods can be consumed along with the cabbage soup. Day four is aimed at reducing your desire for sweet foods.

Day Five

    The focus of day five is primarily beef and tomatoes. You can consume between 10 and 20 oz. of lean beef and have up to six tomatoes. At least six to eight glasses of water must be consumed to flush uric acid from your system. In addition, eat your soup at least once.

Day Six

    In addition to eating at least one cup of your soup on day six, you may consume as much beef and vegetables as you wish. Be sure not to have a baked potato on day six.

Day Seven

    Stuff yourself with brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juices. In addition, eat at least one serving of cabbage soup on day seven, which is the final day of the diet.
